The Philippines has long been regarded as a powerhouse country in beauty pageants. The world felt its power during the '60s, '70s and some in '80s. Philippines produced 2 Miss Universe titles (1969 and 1973), 4 Miss International titles (1964, 1970, 1979 and 2005); 1 Miss Earth title (2008) and if we will include Miss Tourism Queen International as part of the grandslam pageants, Philippines have their first crown in 2006.

But, there's only one crown that's been so elusive for this country's Miss World crown. To note, Philippines has been sending beautiful and competitive girls every year in this prestigious pageant. In fact, it landed several times in the semis and in 1973, Philippines almost officially got the title. 2002-2005 were the glorious years for this country. This is the time when it landed on the semis 4 consecutive years and made on the Finals twice (2003, 2004) and favorite by the media and betting agencies to win the crown (2005).

This year, Philippines will send again an equally beautiful, with a body to die for… Miss Marie Ann Umali. Will she be the answer and will connect the link of the grandslam pageants to make the Philippines the 3rd country to do so (after Brazil and Venezuela) and the first country to achieved it if we will include MTQI?

Her evening gown in BB Pilipinas was the gown she used in Top Model competition (though I'm not sure if it's top model)

One thing for sure she used that gown again.. Smile

I still have high hopes for her but if the crown would still remain elusive for us come 12th of Dec...then i will still rejoice for her for representing the country well....more than the crown...umali had won the hearts already of many people in different nationalities too...and that's an affirmation no one can take from her....
