Avatar is now the world's highest grossing film

James Cameron is king of the world again.

20th Century Fox said Tuesday that the director's sci-fi spectacle, "Avatar," has passed his shipwreck saga "Titanic" to become the highest-grossing film worldwide.

As of Monday, "Avatar" had brought in $1.859 billion at the box office, passing the $1.843 billion worldwide record set by 1997's "Titanic."

"Titanic" remains the highest-grossing film domestically at $600.8 million.

"Avatar" has been No. 1 at the box office for six straight weeks with a domestic total of $554.9 million. It shot down "The Dark Knight" on Saturday to become the second highest-grossing film domestically.

"Avatar" has also mined $1.3 billion in international ticket sales, smashing the $1.24 billion mark previously set by "Titanic."

the word "domestically" referred to the american market i guess (usa)..it's too big for the philippine market....am i ryt???

your damn right! your second coming has indeed felt by millions of your viewers.

It's a remarkable record indeed. But, i am not a fan of the movie especially the plot. It's technically great though just like Titanic (formulaic, but technically awesome).

i find the plot deep and interesting though....

and the most controversial film!!!!

On the contrary, no. I don't take offence in intellectual intercourse. Otherwise, I should make my own website. Hehehehehe. What I mean is that you have the natives versus the colonizers theme with a kind colonizer helping them and is their only savior. It's over and done with to the point of sickening. The only saving grace of this movie is its technically superiority and good storytelling. With this, I rest my case.
