At first there was the Manila Film Fest...held to coincide within the week Araw ng Maynila (June 24) falls...later, there came the Metro Manila Film Fest,,,held during the Yuletide Season...for a while both were held as scheduled...until later, it was deemed practical just to have the December festival...as to Vilma's wins...there were some, yes...one or two were in fact controversial---Burlesk Queen &/or Pagputi ng Uwak, Pag-itim ng Tagak?
