MISS UNIVERSE IS LOSING POPULARITY IN BRAZIL?

IS THIS TRUE THAT WHEN THE MISS UNIVERSE WAS AIRED BY REDE BANDEIRANTES, A LOCAL NETWORK IN BRAZIL, IT GARNERED VERY POOR PERFORMANCE IN RATINGS. IT WAS THE WORST RATING OF THIS EVENT SINCE BANDEIRANTES BOUGHT ITS TV RIGHTS SINCE 2003.

ON THE OTHER HAND, MISS WORLD IS STILL ON TOP WITH REGARDS TO BRAZIL'S TV POPULARITY RATINGS.

IN THE CASE OF MISS EARTH, ALTHOUGH IT WAS NOT AIRED IN BRAZIL, WAS GAINING SOME POPULARITY (BECAUSE OF BRAZIL'S TWO MISS EARTH TITLEHOLDERS I SUPPOSED).

Possible after how many years of disappointment but I guess MU will NEVER lose popularity in the Philippines!

yes, you're right. when you ask somebody what are the beauty pageant they know, they would immediately say Miss Universe and Miss International. But Miss World and even Miss Earth, not all Filipinos know its existence.

believe it too, that Miss Universe is the most popular pageant in the Philippines followed by Miss International. Miss World only rung a bell when Ruffa Gutierrez made it to the top three, but that was a long time ago.

in the present times though, Miss Earth is making waves. the advocacy for change in the Philippines and everywhere stands corollary with the platform of this environmentally-conscious pageant.

most of the Pinoys will still remember Miriam Quiambao, GLoria and margie....

Going back to the topic... after Miss Brazil's 1st runner up placement in MU 2007? I wonder why the MU popularity goes down?

Well, back on the topic. This is shocking since I always thought Brazil is a crazy pageant country. Not only that South America as whole is the bailiwick of Miss Universe.
